Summary

Software engineer with 10 years building and shipping line-of-business applications end-to-end, on a 20-year technology foundation spanning infrastructure, integration, and operations. Turns manual business processes — budgeting, approvals, work orders, and financial workflows — into reliable production software, and is extending that work into human-in-the-loop AI agents. Has delivered across every mode — built custom systems, bought and rolled out purchased products, integrated the two, and handed off his own systems onto team-supported platforms. Full-ownership builder with deep Azure and C#/.NET experience who optimizes for productivity per dollar.

Technical Skills

  • Languages: C#, Python, T-SQL / SQL, JavaScript
  • Backend & Frameworks: ASP.NET MVC, .NET, Entity Framework, REST APIs, Vue, FastAPI, AngularJS, Kendo UI
  • Cloud & DevOps: Microsoft Azure (App Service, Azure SQL, Storage, Cloud Services), Docker & Docker Compose, Git, GitHub Actions (CI/CD), on-prem virtualization, Google Workspace administration
  • Data: SQL Server, Python reporting automation
  • Integration: Vantaca, CINC, SenEarthCo, QuickBooks, Salesforce, OneLogin
  • AI & Agents: LangGraph (human-in-the-loop agent flows), MCP tool servers, Anthropic API, prompt & guardrail design — demonstrated in Greenlight (portfolio project); AI-assisted development workflow (spec-driven, guardrailed, cost-aware)
  • Observability: OpenTelemetry (traces across .NET, Python, and the browser), W3C trace-context propagation, Jaeger — demonstrated in Greenlight (portfolio project)
  • Practices: Requirements gathering, system integration, automated testing, spec-driven development, standards enforced as gates (pre-commit hooks, CI), technical leadership, cross-functional delivery

Projects

Greenlight — human-in-the-loop AI for financial workflows (portfolio project)

GitHub · Case study

  • A LangGraph agent drafts an auto-repair triage and estimate — calling MCP tools for parts pricing and vehicle history — and returns a proposal, writing nothing to the system of record. A service advisor reviews in Vue and approves, edits, or rejects; only on approval does the C#/.NET backend commit the repair order and write an append-only audit record.
  • The approval gate and audit trail are enforced server-side, with a test proving the agent cannot commit unilaterally.
  • Traced end-to-end with OpenTelemetry — one trace from the browser click to the Claude call.
  • One thesis, applied twice: deterministic guardrails around a non-deterministic model — at runtime (the approval gate and audit trail) and at build time (hooks and CI around the coding agent).
  • Stack: C#/.NET · Vue · Python/LangGraph · MCP · OpenTelemetry · Azure · Terraform

Vantaca workflow migration — build-vs-buy handoff (case study)

Case study

  • Recommended retiring the budgeting platform he had built and run for eight years in favor of the team-supported Vantaca platform, then led the handoff as technical lead — co-designing a 20-step approval workflow with the business owner and a cross-functional team.

Experience

Ghertner & Company — Nashville, TN

The largest HOA management firm in Middle Tennessee | 2005 – Present

Programmer Analyst (Software Engineer) | 2016 – Present

Sole developer responsible for speccing, building, deploying, and supporting custom software across the company.

  • Cut new-homeowner welcome-packet turnaround from 30+ days to 4 by designing and shipping a tracking system, eliminating a process gap that had owners receiving late notices before their welcome materials.
  • Built and ran an HOA budgeting and financial-reporting platform for 8 years (approval workflows, content management, progress dashboards); later served as technical lead migrating the process onto Vantaca, co-designing a 20-step workflow with the business owner and a cross-functional team.
  • Developed a work-order and bid-management system integrated with Vantaca — scheduling, multi-version bidding, and a purchase-order module for contractor coordination; led the later transition of the work-order function to Salesforce while the bid/PO module remains in production.
  • Delivered a suite of internal web applications used company-wide: board financial-approval portal, meeting-minutes tracker, common-area inspection tool, pool-key request workflow, and check-request reimbursement approvals.
  • Built and maintain integrations across Vantaca, CINC, SenEarthCo, QuickBooks, Salesforce, and OneLogin, plus Python automation for reporting against secondary property-management databases.
  • Own the full software lifecycle on Azure (App Service, Azure SQL, Cloud Services) with Git and GitHub Actions CI/CD, and maintain deployment documentation to ensure clean handoff — building each system to be transitioned to team-supported software as commercial options mature.

IT & Infrastructure | 2005 – 2016

Led technology operations and modernization as the company's primary IT resource.

  • Led the company-wide rollout of SenEarthCo, moving the organization from paper-based processes to digital management of work orders, violations, meeting minutes, and HOA operations — owning vendor evaluation, deployment planning, staff training, and accounting-system API integration.
  • Modernized core infrastructure: introduced on-premises virtualization and migrated the company from on-prem Exchange to Google Workspace, selected over Microsoft after evaluating Exchange Online as not yet production-ready.
  • Supported successive property-management platform migrations (SKYLINE → CINC), handling rollout, data migration, and integration setup.

Education

  • B.S., Applied Statistics — Indiana University (online) · expected 2028
  • A.S., Science — Olney Central College · expected 2027
  • Mechanical Engineering coursework — Southern Illinois University · Thermodynamics · Heat Transfer · Energy Management · Strength of Materials · Calculus · Linear Algebra · Differential Equations · Probability & Statistics

Continuous Learning

  • DataCamp — Python Developer; Associate Data Engineer in SQL; AI Engineering for Developers (in progress)
  • Pursuing — Microsoft Certified: Azure AI App and Agent Developer Associate (AI-103)
